Our Family

Hi. This is Veronica. I wanted to tell you a bit about our family.

I was born in Russia and worked as a medical/surgical nurse for a year and a half before coming to the United States.

Once I got here I had to re-earn my nursing degree. I accomplished this at Utah Valley University. I now work as a pediatric nurse to the cutest little boy with Down syndrome.

My husband is Darrin. I can honestly say that he is the love of my life. Darrin is a very hard working man, and even built our home himself. Darrin is also an excellent father to our children.

We have three kids. Two boys and a girl. We are working hard to be able to bring Katya home. It will be nice to have two boys and two girls!

George is 15 and growing into such a wonderful young man. He loves art, music, especially the guitar and drums. George is also working his way up in the world of martial arts.

Nicholas is 10, very smart and was born with a heart of gold. He loves science, engineering, and also attends classes in jujitsu.

Our youngest is Katie who is 4. Katie loves everything girly as well as the cars and trains her brothers love to play with. She is so excited to start preschool!

We learned about Katya from an internet article, written by a volunteer who has worked with Katya.

Katya's story deeply touch our hearts and we truly believe that we are meant to be her forever family. Making the decision to adopt is a hard one. The financial requirements are steep: $35,000 to bring our beautiful girl home. We have great faith that our Heavenly Father will provide a way to bring Katya home.

You may not know, but in Russia, a child with special needs, after reaching a certain age, is then put into a institution where their life span is about 2 years.

Can you imagine? This beautiful little one in a place where she will receive no education, no personal care? It breaks my heart.

So, that's our story. If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to ask them in the comments section!

One of my favorite quotes.

"An invisible red thread connects those who are destined to meet, regardless of time, place or circumstance. The thread may stretch or tangle, but will never break". Chinese proverb

Katya's ChipIn!

We've created a ChipIn! for those who want to donate to Bringing Katya home.

We are still trying to figure out how to add this as a gadget to our sidebar.

Katya lives in orphanage in Kirov. She's 5 years old. Katya was born with cerebral palsy. Katya was lucky. She survived her birth. She's been blessed with a bright mind, beautiful blue eyes, and a heart full of hope.

Katya isn't one to avoid a challenge. Because she is unable to walk, Katya instead uses her hands to take her where she needs to go...even up and down the stairs!

But Katya is running of time. It won't be long before Katya will be labeled as an incapacitated child.

Indifferently.

Fatally.

Katya has a forever family just waiting to be able to bring her home. Veronica and Darrin Pierce have been in touch with the Frank Adoption Center in North Carolina, the agency that works with Katya's orphanage.

Through this adoption center the Pierce family has learned it will cost close to $35,000 dollars to adopt Katya and to bring her home.

35,000 dollars to save the life of a beautiful little girl.

Because of this, the Pierce family is humbly asking for your support in raising funds for Katya's adoption. All proceeds would go directly to the Frank Adoption Center to be held in the Pierce Family Adoption fund.

The Pierce family welcomes any support, whether it is a donation to Katya's adoption fund, items to raffle or sell, or ideas on how other may have raised funds for their foreign adoption.
